Food You Didn’t Know Is Vegan

Whether you’re a new vegan or an experienced one, you might be surprised by some of the products we discuss this week. In Episode #6, we cover food you didn’t know is vegan and food you didn’t realize isn’t vegan. Both categories have products that might surprise you. Use this episode to help you find new products and eliminate the non-vegan options.

Food you didn’t know is vegan

Of course, our lists don’t include every possibility. We created this episode to focus on some unexpected items to grow your vegan pantry. These food products mostly focus on snacks and baked goods. You know the two most important food categories! Did you know there’s a common boxed cake mix that’s actually vegan? Listen to this episode of The Average Vegans Podcast to hear the answer!

Food you didn’t realize isn’t vegan

This group of products might be more surprising than the last. There are a few food items on this list that some people would never guess weren’t vegan. Whether the food is on here because it has gelatin or dairy or even crushed bugs (ew!), these products have ingredients in them that are far from vegan. We discuss snacks, sauces, drinks, and even a canned item.

We hope learning about food you didn’t know is vegan and food you never realized wasn’t vegan will help you as you shop for new items. Keep listening to this episode because we also discuss some ingredients to look out for as you walk the isles of your local grocery store.

Non-Vegan Ingredients To Look For

Additionally, we discuss some tricky ingredients and words that make finding vegan items a bit more difficult. Some food products include terms that sound vegan but definitely aren’t. Make sure to not allow the packaging to tell you if something is vegan but rather, you need to read the ingredients carefully in order to determine if a product is vegan. This section of the podcast will help you spot those ingredients.
